VRD-Suburban Basketball Coaches Wanted
There are two teams at each grade level, fifth through eighth grade, one for boys and one for girls. The season will begin with tryouts in mid-October with games beginning in mid-December and continuing into late February. Generally there are 2 or 3 practices per week pre-season and when games start, 1 or 2 practices and 2 games each week. The VRD strives at all times to make the practice schedule “fit” the coach.

Prospective volunteer coaches are invited to submit a letter to Recreation Director Jim Cunningham, outlining their experience and general qualifications. Coaches are subject to a background check conducted by completing and submitting a background check form. These forms are available in the recreation office, or online.

The deadline for submitting an application to coach a Verona Recreation Department Suburban basketball team is October 1, 2010. Tryouts and coach selection will be handled by the Recreation Department with assistance from members of the Verona Recreation Advisory Committee.

The purpose of the program is to introduce this type of exercise which includes aerobics and resistance training. It provides a work out however due to buoyancy is easier on the joints (sorry, no rain dates or refunds).

2010 Girl’s Volleyball
7th & 8th Volleyball Team

Who: Verona girls entering 7th and 8th grade in 9/10
Where: Practices and Matches at the VCC and VHS
When: Practices and matches on Selected Weeknights 6:00-8:00pm

How: All 7th & 8th grade girls who are interested should sign up online. There is no cost for signing up.

Fee: $85.00-(Paid if the child is chosen for the Team)
Registration: will be Sept. 20-24, 2010. A late fee will be accessed after Sept. 24, 2010 All team members receive a team t-shirt and knee pads.
Tryouts: September 14, 15 & 16, 2010 at 6:30-8:30pm at the VCC.

This is a team a league with area towns. Games will be played against Caldwell-West Caldwell, Cedar Grove, Livingston, West Orange, and Montville. We are anticipating 1-2 matches/week. There will be some matches home and some away.

Music Theater Camp - 2010
Who: Grades 1, 2, 3
Limited Program – 12 students only
Where: VCC in August 4, 11, 18, 25
When: Wednesdays 6:00 - 7:00pm
Fee: $70.00 per person- $10.00 Late fee as 5/14/10

The camp will be organized by veteran dance instructor Dawn Lau, who teaches our Kinetic Kidz, Creative Movement, Ballet/Tap and seasonal Music Theater Programs at the VCC.

Senior Exercise
We are launching the online registration program for Senior Exercise. Registration for Verona Residents will begin on March 29, 2010 at 8:30am. Verona Residents may register at the Recreation office or online. Please note that all non-Verona residents MUST register online at www.veronanj.org. Look for our Community Pass Online Registration Logo.
