Impending Storm

New Jersey will be under a State of Emergency beginning at 5:00 PM today (1.9.24).  A significant amount of rainfall is expected with heavy downpours from 9:00 PM - Midnight.  Wind gusts are anticipated to get above 60 MPH in some areas causing concern for power outages and road closures.

During a State of Emergency, the Verona Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is the authority.  OEM’s goal is to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the effects of natural or man-made disasters and emergencies that may occur within the Township of Verona.

OEM coordinates the plans and operations of the various components of the Emergency Management System consisting of police, fire, emergency medical services, public works, volunteers, and other groups contributing to the management of emergencies.

Be prepared for flooding, heavy rain, strong winds, downed trees/wires, and power outages.
