NJBPU Awards Verona $150,000 for Clean Fleet Program

Verona Township continues to show commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship by recently securing a $150,000 grant from the NJ Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU). This funding will assist Verona in starting to transition toward electricity fueled fleets, starting with four electric vehicles, two Level 2 charging stations and one DCFC (fast-charging) station. In addition to the grant, Verona will also be eligible to take advantage of additional tax credits for implementing this EV charging infrastructure and EV fleet.

This program is a part of NJ's ongoing efforts to reduce air pollution and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. With transportation being one of the largest contributors to poor air quality, transitioning towards an electric fleet represents a crucial step towards a cleaner, healthier environment. This grant will enable Verona to modernize their fleet while reducing their carbon footprint at the same time.

This funding is a vital component in Verona's strategy to promote green initiatives in the community. By investing in the necessary electric vehicles, and necessary charging infrastructure we are taking tangible steps to better our air quality. Continuing following Verona Township for important updates as this program is put into motion. This grant was adopted via resolution at the 8.5.24 Township Council meeting, which can be watched on Verona's YouTube Channel.
